Hello you boozy beauties!
Today we’re mixing things up a bit.
Instead of industry news, we’re going to reveal how we got started with this boozy brand.
This is the story of NIPYATA!
How NIPYATA! came to be
“You know it’s good tequila when you’re playing the bottle like a trumpet and you can’t remember your last name…”
When did you come up with the idea for NIPYATA!?
We didn’t. The idea wasn’t ours. Much like Zuck stealing the Facebook idea from the Winklevii, we borrowed it from our high school buddy.
He used to bring booze-filled piñatas to parties. The guy was a genius.
After you stole the idea, what did you do next?
We came up with a name. Nip + Piñata seemed perfect. nipyata.com was available. NIPYATA! was born.
Where does the word nip come from?
Nip is short or “nipperkin” but soon after we launched we realized only in New England are they called ‘nips’ - most places call them ‘mini’s’ or ‘shooters’ or ‘shots’ or ‘smugglers’ etc.
What is your proudest moment as NIPYATA! founders?
Probably when we were featured on Comedy Central and The Today Show.
At the end of the clip, Carson Daly grabs a few nips and hides them in his jacket pocket on the sly. We always knew he was one of us- a nip-loving beauty.

When did the business really start to take off?
Ironically, we thought we’d have to put the business on hold during covid. Nobody was going to be getting together to party and smash ‘Yata’s so we were worried business would slow to a halt.
To our surprise, our business 10x’d in a year and we evolved into the go-to online platform for boozy gifting!
We launched Drinkable Greeting Cards, Boozy Advent Calendars and Spirit Subscriptions.
People were using NIPYATA! to send boozy gifts to each other because they couldn’t visit in person. Brilliant!
What is your most popular product?
The Finally Legal 21 Piñata (with 21 shots (nips!) inside) is the top-seller. It’s the perfect gift for someone turning 21! It’s in the shape of the number “21” and has 21 shots and 21 candies inside!

Ingredients for the Winter Berry Spritz:
6 oz Grapefruit Gay Water
1 oz Chambord
2 oz Cranberry Juice
Garnish with Rosemary Sprig
In a chilled glass filled with ice, pour in the 6 oz of Grapefruit Gay Water. Add the 1 oz of Chambord. Add 2 oz of cranberry juice. Garnish with rosemary sprig and enjoy! ❄️
